The Database Analyst in this position will exercise his/her top-level technical expertise in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Knowledge in DB2 (Z/OS) or ORACLE 8i/9i/10g (Sun Solaris) will be an asset.

Qualification:
Graduate / MBA : Bachelor Degree in computer science or Equivalent
Skill & Compentancies:
• 3 to 7 years of experience in supporting Microsoft SQL Server
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and problem solving skills
• Proven collaboration skills, coupled with strong documentation writing practices
• DB2 (Z/OS) or ORACLE (Sun Solaris) would be beneficial
• Working experience with data replication, fail-over, and data recovery techniques
• Knowledge and experience using BMC PATROL and Embarcadero tools
• Thorough understanding/experience of database backup and recovery principles
• Microsoft SQL Server clustering experience
• Experience with data integration tools for extract-transformation-load and data-propagation is a definite asset.
• Familiarity with Power Designer and other modeling tools for both Oracle(Sun Solaris) and Microsoft SQL Server
• Microsoft SQL Server vendor certification
• ORACLE vendor certification would be beneficial
• OLAP and cube design / build
Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the systems development process by providing technical support, training and guidelines for the database management system environment under minimal guidance
• Implementation and support of replication and transformation products and facilities.
• Consulting and assistance to the application community on query efficiency, application tuning, database design changes and trouble-shooting.
• Installation, configuration, software upgrades and monitoring of Microsoft SQL Server
• Exploit database productivity tools to perform database services functions and automate processes when appropriate
• Contribute to research and development of new technologies and setting directions
• Contribute to the development of standards and guidelines
• Keep abreast of the latest technical developments by continuous review of technical literature and regular attendance at appropriate seminars and conferences
• Provide on-call support on the supported database management system, may include occasional evenings and weekends
